Turning 31

Early this week I was in the mood to watch a chick-flick and I chose ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’. The movie opens with Bridget stating she is 32 years old and the rest follows. Have you noticed, in most western ‘coming-of-age’, romcom, etc. movies, the female protagonists are in their 30s? Okay remember, what is Carrie Bradshaw’s age in Sex and the City’s first episode? Another point to be noted in such shows and movies, is people in 20s are shown as too young and immature.

On the contrary, in Indian cinema, in 1990s and before, the female lead would be in her teens! And nowadays, they have graduated to be in their early 20s.

Now, I am not trying to belittle any culture here as I understand every society has had a history and is the way it is for a reason, which is a very different and wide topic and can be discussed at another time.

What I am trying to say is, we are a society that endorses (and ensures) childhood meets a premature death and old age blooms early. And, as feminist as it sounds, it is true that this is more so for the girls!

  • Get married in early 20’s
  • Have babies by mid-20s
  • Make your life all about your family in your 30s
  • Become a purpose-less, hopeless old hag in your 40s
  • Make religion/God your priority in your 50s
  • Wait for your death in and after 60s

Now, I am not saying that women are asked to follow the above timeline. I mean we are raised in a way that this seeps into our subconscious so discreetly, we don’t realize it until we are in the later phase of this pre-designed life. Perhaps this is changing for some and may be not for some.

Last year after I turned 30, I went through this gloomy phase for a few weeks. I have always followed my heart and rebelled my way through life so far and I was feeling like the best part of my life has just ended and that it will only go downhill further on! All this until I had the revelation (as above) about why do I really feel the way I do.

Scientifically, yes, the body gets older and gradually weaker as we grow. But how we feel or should feel does not depend on it, at least, not entirely. Moreover, ‘the best part of life’ is something we usually don't realise when living it. We will only see it that way, once it has passed or when it is about to come.

Yesterday, I turned 31. There are many changes in the way I see and perceive things now. May be I don’t get enthusiastic too often as I have met many a new experience already. May be I am not as interested in everything that comes along my way. May be I am not always open to new friendships. May be it all sounds a little less adventurous. May be this what 'older and wiser' looks like. But, the inner curious child in me is still very much alive. And, I believe life has only just begun and that the quest to ‘I don’t know what’ continues in all its glory.

PS: These are strictly my observations and not a judgement on any particular persons. If they seem condescending, perhaps you should question yourself.

From House to Home

23 Aug 2020

We are moving! I am so excited for the new house. To live here, to make new memories with him here. I really wish that this house is comfortable and does not have any major problems so we can stay here for longer than a year or two. Because one year seems so less to soak in all the good things it has in store for us.

This is a new experience for me, this settling into a house that I and he chose together. Bringing all of our belongings here. Arranging & allocating them to specific shelves, drawers, cupboards.

It feels amazing. This is like the good part of being independent.
Yes, being independent does have a not-so-greatly-enjoyable side too! Like paying bills / cooking and cleaning / planning & saving for early retirement because god knows I cannot be spending most of years of my life earning money (read as evil)!
Let me not digress... I was talking about the good part... I am excited!

23 Oct 2020

The house is still pretty great! The excitement is gone, but the appreciation has stayed. Just like a happy long-term relationship or marriage. It's comfortable, it's roomy enough, it lets me be, it's home now. :)

I Should Because I Can.

Each ray emanated from the sun is a ray of hope.
Every 7 am comes with an opportunity to become a better version of yourself.

No one said following your heart will be the easiest thing to do.
But I can say, it is certainly the most satisfying feeling in the world.

To follow your heart, however, is not in your hands alone.
There are a hundred other things that need to function at the right pace so you can follow your heart.
Therefore, to be following your heart in itself is a stroke of luck.
Have you realised that before?
To do what you wish to, to work on your dreams, all of this is already a privilege.

Ask a child in Iraq who has lost his family and doesn't know if he will survive another day.
Ask a quadriplegic who was once an adventure enthusiast.
Ask a musician suffering from Alzheimer's who has forgotten how to make music, and worse, how to live.

Stop wishing for luck. You already are one of the most fortunate humans.
Go ahead, work on your dreams.
Whether they come true or not, at least you will have lived them.

A lost moment

I see green pastures. I see colorful tents.
It is so cold I am trembling.
I can feel the pellets of ice falling from the sky on my hand.
It seems like a dream.
So it can really happen, I tell myself.
Hail stones.
Every cell in my body, every artery in my heart feels elated and tranquil.
The smile is adamant, it won't leave.

................

Today when I closed my eyes while commuting to work,
I found this moment that was hidden somewhere deep in my memory.
And within seconds I was transported back to Padri.
To that chilling moment, that beautiful moment, my moment.

The Sixteenth

A month ago, on this day, I embarked on the most unexpected journey in my life. A journey that changed my life. A journey of an epic beginning.

Dear Mr. God,

I love you more than ever now. The happiness that my heart contains is of such magnitude that I am afraid to lose even an ounce of it. It feels like magic. You have surprised me, delighted me, blessed me. You have showered me with such love that  it goes beyond my imagination. I will be thankful to you till my last breath.

..........

I am at the Beas. The cold winds are making my lungs quiver. My clothes are not doing a good job at keeping me warm. I am loving the cold. My teeth clatter and my body shivers. I am standing on the rocks submerged in the river that is flowing effortlessly. The icy water is piercing each cell in my legs. My legs go numb after a while. I cannot feel them. I cannot feel the cold. I am smiling as wide as I can. A tear rolls down my cheek. I feel lighter. I am one with the river. I see pine trees around and the gargantuan mountains with a scoop of snow carelessly dropped on them. The river is feeling me, healing me. I feel empty. I feel full. I feel me. I am happiness. I am love. I am the river and she is me. We are one.

My heart yearns for her.

I wish...
Why do we wish so much?

Best things happen to you when you least expect them while secretly wanting them to happen in a corner of your heart. :)

I am still an overthinker and will always be one.
The future worries me. The circumstances in the future concern me.
I am not sure if I am ready to face them yet.

Someone told me I should live only in the present. That's not me. No matter how much I try, I cannot just live in the present. A small part of me still dwells in my past and another small one constantly tries to peep into the future while the rest of me blissfully enjoys the present.

Anyway,
I would like to believe, epic beginnings never have an ending.

That copywriter chick - 2

When the shitrail thing happened with me, I was so agitated, I wanted to tell everyone that a thing as gross as this really happens in Mumbai. I wrote a blog and published it on social media as well, and as a co-incidence a small weekly that is run by a bunch of journalism students in Delhi, contacted me for similar kind of articles. I gave them the link to my blogpost, they liked it enough to publish it in their newspaper on the next day. I shared that as well on FB and twitter, and got a good deal of appreciation for it.

People from the same field won't consider it to be an accomplishment while those not from this industry regard this as a great achievement. As for me, this is just another step towards becoming all those things that I had dreamed to be as a child and that I wish to be now.

Current Playlist:
Jolene - Miley Cyrus
Pimpin smokin dro (Hardwell mix)
If I lose myself - Alesso vs. One Republic
Thousand years - Christina Perry
Chaudhry - Amit Trivedi vs. Mame Khan
Kattey - Ram Sampat, Hard Kaur and Bhanvari Devi

Also, there was an ad contest I wanted to partake in, but I did not have a motivated team. I can write, but I can't design ads, so there went my opportunity to do some good work.
Nevertheless, I am hoping to do some good proactive work in the coming days, and I am hoping that my team actively supports me.
One other thing that I have learned now is that if you don't have an enthusiastic creative partner, you cannot think of participating in contests, let alone winning them!

I have also been doing some travel writing in the meanwhile. Waiting for it to get published now.
I have realized and am slowly accepting the fact that I am more of a writer than a copywriter. This does not mean that I am not going to be a good copywriter, it just means that I will be writing a lot of other things along with ads and marketing collateral.

Pre-Christmas Celebration at Bandra

Yes, I went to Bandra again yesterday! That place is blooming with the Christmas Spirit. Just day before yesterday I blogged about the awesome festive decorations being sold on every nook and cranny of that place, and then yesterday, adding to my delight, there was a Christmas parade happening. All the Christmas carols and songs being played, fake snow being sprayed on the people around, distribution of chocolates and gifts, everyone wearing Santa caps, entertaining acts, and so much more took place there.

I was so glad to be there and witness the enchantment of the season. Thanks to my friend who made a plan to go there otherwise I had planned on staying in yesterday.

Also, wherever we went yesterday, we could hear the Christmas carols being sung or played. It gave me such a celestial and rapturous feeling being around such joyful merrymaking!

On a cold Saturday...

It's not a secret that winter is my favorite season, but I would still love to say it again that I love, simply love, winter!

This year, Mumbai is actually cold during winter!

Oh my my... how happy this chilliness makes me! :D

Anyway,
Those moments when you don't wish to feel about certain people in a certain way because you know that it's unfair to be so negative towards them. But, you still continue to hold those little grudges for that little while, and justify doing so by calling it normal human behavior. However, that excuse doesn't really help you from not feeling guilty about feeling negative about them... because, in your heart, you know you are being unfair!

Christmas is almost here! Yay! I have no special plans. Doesn't mean I'm not allowed to feel special about it!

A Christmas shop at Bandra, Hill Road.
They had amazing decorative items and adornments in this little roadside shop. In fact, there were many hawkers also selling baubles and other cute things in Bandra. It was so Christmas-y and positive and blissful being there today, surrounded by the festive spirit. Loved it!

Also,
I don't understand why they call monsoon as the 'season of love and romance' when it should actually be winter! How can you not find this weather the most romantic, the most loving climate ever?
(Yes, love and romance are two very, very different things!)

Twitter is addictive! Very much.

Adieu bloggy doggy! See you soon. :*

'The missing piece' or rather 'The missing peace'

Hair-cut and shopping - Life's good!
I feel beautiful today! :D

With so many positive things happening around, I should be feeling ecstatic but why do I feel like something is missing... What is it that is wrong?
Perhaps I'm so used to having something going amiss with me that when everything's perfect, I'm not able to gulp it in.
Or
There really is something missing...
I know, not going to Goa sucks but I've overcome that  now so that's not the subject of my anxiety.

Sigh...

I'm stupid!

Locked out of heaven - Bruno Mars
Jiya re - Neeti Mohan (JTHJ)

I reminisce, a few weeks back I was thinking, the ones who stand by your side, even during the moments when you hate them, are the ones who really and truly love you. But then, I discerned that these people still love you because you never showcased your hatred expressly, you either abhorred them inwardly or behaved a little cranky with them at times.
The truth is, No one can stand you, when you start behaving the way you feel, no matter how special or important you are to them!

My stepping stone!

Datamatics Global Services Ltd.- Content Writer.

Thank you Mr God!

Who knows if this could be that turning point...

No Goa for me. Of course it feels sad not be a part of it but I can manage now, I guess... because Mr God helped!

Blessed :)

Yesterday was one of my best friend's party and I danced like crazy (just as always)! The 'dance hangover' still exists and that's the reason I've been prancing all over my house since morning, err afternoon because that's when I woke up!! :D

Also, I realized if I had to choose, I would choose dance over drinks... haha...
(though it would make no difference because whenever I'm dancing, I dance like I'm already a few shots down even if I ain't... so I've been told by all!)

And yesterday, I could empathize with her happiness and gaiety completely... It was as if her achievement had become my achievement...
I love you so much and I truly and totally wish, you to be as happy all your life!

Also,
Today is my childhood best friend's birthday, which is another reason why I'm feeling so gleeful. She knows me in and out, more than anyone else could ever know... and I guess its vice versa too!
Despite the fact that it's so difficult to admit (it really is), I will have to say that you are "the best friend" that everyone should have, that they show in the movies and soaps, that I never ever imagined me having and I'm just so blessed to have you.

Thank you Mr God for bestowing me with such happy moments. You, I love the most! :*

I found perfect!

I've been to Lonavala countless times but on Saturday, when I was there with a group of friends, we discovered a pulchritudinous lake. Oh lord, that vision is something that I'm never gonna forget! Water moving so silently and graciously, a distant waterfall on the other side of the lake, huge round rocks, lots of different little bushes, each wearing a uniquely different shade of green... it was only us and no one else around... I never wanted to get out of that lake, that place... so picturesque, so perfect! Sadly, we were running out of time so we couldn't be there for long...  :(
I've not traveled a lot but what I experienced there, I hadn't experienced anywhere else!
Isn't God the best architect ever! I love Him sooooo much for creating something so alluring, marvelous, spectacular, phenomenal... ohhh I can go on and on about it until I fall short of all the adjectives known to me! It was truly a treat to the eyes... and the way it made me feel is inexplicable and unbeatable!
Thank you so much Mr God for that magnificent and bewitching view... just please don't let it elude by mind ever!
None of us had a camera or a cell phone in hand to click a picture that time.
You know, I could've enjoyed the view better if we had more time because I was inside the water all the time so my eyes did not get enough time to eat up all that they could see... but nonetheless the experience was simply divine!
Now I know where can I find it the next time I go.... and I'm certain to pay a visit again!! :)

For the first time, I knew what perfect meant, the real definition, something that can make me feel what I felt like when I was there!
I wish I was there right now...

One of my friend was shocked, how and why was I ENJOYING RAINS suddenly?! Well, that trip was meant to be for that, right, so... Moreover, I was already drenched in water due the waterfall so how would rains annoy me when I'm already soaked?? Duhh!
Actually,
it was not the rain that I loved but the cold and frigidness embedded in those icy raindrops hitting my skin... I wanted to hear my teeth clatter, see my body getting cold-creeps, feel the extreme frigidness the weather that time could offer and so I was standing out in the rain when most of them were sitting in a shanty, sipping hot tea and eating maggi...

And so I've been on bed since the time I've reached home with a red running nose, sore throat, no voice and fever! Gosh, I just can't stop sneezing, I would've had like a 100 aachhooss while typing this post!
BUT I still love cold! :D

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

My head is practically spinning right now. I was so drunk last night, I don't exactly remember it but I can recollect some bits and pieces of it. Haha... whatever it was, it was fun!
I had gone off to sleep but I guess the fear of my deadline tomorrow morning, woke me up.... I don't know what I'm gonna write and how but i'll do it & send it right away...

I love writing!

It's so eminent to have the right people around, who help you not make a fool of yourself while you are in a drunken state.... and then, despite of their efforts you end up looking tipsy and stupid because you are that drunk... Haha

Thanks Mr God for gifting me such stupid and sweet friends... Cheers! ;)

Happily Nostalgic!

I just finished my last article. I just hope the agency doesn't kick me out for another late submission.
*fingers crossed*

Anyway so, I was just about to shut down the comp but I thought of turning on the TV first, for sometime before sleeping and started shuffling the channels. I stumbled on a channel named Z Smile and what do I see... 'Rishtey' is being shown on the channel...
Back in the late 90's 'Rishtey' used to come on Zee TV, once a week on Sundays at 10PM... and I used to love it, I never used to miss it. What a lovely show! One new story in every episode.
I am watching it right now and am feeling happily nostalgic... I am feeling as though, I am still that 7 year old girl watching TV and eating fast food at home since it's Sunday and we used to order food at home on every Sunday!

Thank you Mr God for this silly little amazing moment! :D

In the groove :D

Mujhse fraanship karoge- Cute :)

Mango Cake- My new love! :D
(the taste is still lingering in my mouth.... damn... how can something ever taste soooooo crazily delectable!!! I wish it was low calorie, I'd eat it all the time!)

Okay so...
I was just reminiscing how I was this silly girl who was always scared to do anything and everything, some years back! I used to be scared and intimidated invariably... I still remember how scared I was to open an Orkut account, I actually asked my mom whether I should do that!
And now, I never ask, I just do!
Damn, have I changed!
Though not completely...

Listening to Futuristic Lover by Katy Perry....
"Boy, your an alien
your touch are foreign
it's super natural
extra-terrestrial"

Katy Perry is damn good!

"Coz baby your a firework
c'mon show'em what your worth..."

Ohh,I love her!

Am I in a good mood or what! :D
It was an awesomely amazing weekend!

I had really expected a lot of writing to come my way post exams but none did! :(

I loveeee Movies!

Reading The Gift by Cecelia Ahern currently...

Love to dance!

Oh and FYI I still abhor summer!!

Damn, since when am I trying to download a few tracks but something's wrong, unable to download!!! Aaaarrgghh!! :/

'Good Girl', this movie always gets me thinking...

And,
I don't get why do guys love to assume that every girl who tries to interact with them is interested in them!!!
Dude, get a life... Shit aren't they desperate!! If a girl approaches you, it doesn't always mean she wants to sleep with you! Please for Christ's sake grow up and for once think of things other than intercourse and blow-jobs!!! Boys are highly and over-excessively self centered! And then they ask me why am I single!! Hellllooo....

(I am not generalizing, there can be exceptions but I haven't stumbled across many yet!)

Some freaky jerk concluded that I have a crush on a so-so friend's boyfriend just because I once said he looks good! What single-mindedness!! Since when did appreciating good looks turn into having an infatuation! Fuckerr! Ugh... I feel like shoving him off from the 26th floor of any goddamn sky-scrapper!!

I told him, how sick his thought process is but I still feel morbid reminiscing that conversation.... Dude I feel like puking on your face!!

Anyway... I need not let some thick-headed and obtuse fool affect me!
*Sigh*

Rosy picture!

Last week I was at a friend's place, I'd been there many times before but for the first time I noticed that they had a rose plant placed on their window.
I've obviously seen roses but never before had I seen a living rose blooming out of a plant.
Rose was never one of my favorites but for the first time I was in love with that flower! I was so glad and delighted to see a rose full of life! I couldn't resist clicking a few pictures from my BB!
Its charm was such that I totally overlooked the thorns until I got pricked... The plant was actually full of thorns so I couldn't really touch the flower although I tried hard to reach it...
It looked so perfect! The color, the shape, even the thorns, everything about it was flawless!

(The clicks may not be as beautiful but that's all my BB could do. But, I still love them)

The demented duo!

It's been circa 10 years, since we've been best friends... We know each other better than we know ourselves. There are many arguments and disagreements that happen between us frequently (& most of them are prodigal) ... And that's because we are so emotionally dependent on each other... But, still we stand strong and together and we always will. Our never-ending craziness... Sanity no where exists around us! The way we discuss our most important, serious and earnest problems and decisions also with sheer sarcasm and humor..(We can never be serious!!). How we never fall short of things to talk about...Yes, you are the only person with whom I ALWAYS have things to talk... I can't remember a single time when both us had nothing to talk about! Seriously! Hahaha.. maybe because we always talk crap and the world can never go out of crap!! We might have changed in all these years but when we are together, we are always those two silly school girls, who make fun of everything and anything that comes on their way... and I cannot be more sure of the fact that this, what we have, is never gonna change!!

Waise bhi mere alava koi aur tujhe jhel nahi sakta... All thanks to my bad karma!!

A befitting quote that comes to my mind, for us:
"It's the privilege of friendship to talk nonsense, and have her nonsense respected"
